Saline breast augmentation
A breast augmentation surgery is based on placing some implants into a lady's breast by making an incision. There are two types of available implants : the saline and the silicone gel implants. There is a result research, funded by the Aesthetic Surgery education and research Foundation, which says that women are more satisfied with a saline breast augmentation implant that with a silicone gel one. The saline breast implants consists of three types, such as: one single lumen or shell implant that is filled during the operation with a fixed volume of saline without having an adjustment possibility after the intervention is done, a single lumen filled with saline but with a possibility to adjust the volume of the implant after the surgery is finished and the third and final type of the implant is the one that has no possibility of adjustment or filling during or after the operation because the shell is pre filled by the manufacturer with a fixed volume of saline.
A saline breast augmentation implant has the following composition : cured polymeric (large) silicones; around 20 % of fine powdered silica, which is tightly bound to the silicone polymers; a small amount of smaller silicones; traces of volatile materials; some organic compounds ; small parts of metals, which include a metal catalyst that causes a change in the material. Usually these metal catalysts are zinc, platinum or tin. A saline breast implant has a silicone rubber shell filled with the above composition. Either a woman decides to have saline breast augmentation implants or silicone gel ones, the procedures that must be followed are the same and also the preparation for the surgery. The post operation information and recovery is the same but, women say that the complications and the pain are different. The saline breast augmentation implants involve less risks and the most important thing is that these implants imply a painless recovery.
